BLENDED DELIVERY OVERVIEW

This Provide First Aid course is delivered in a blended format, combining the convenience of online learning with the benefits of practical face-to-face training. Participants complete self-paced online modules covering the theoretical components of first aid, including how to assess a casualty, manage hazards, and respond to a range of medical emergencies. Once the online component is completed, participants attend a half-day, face-to-face practical session where they apply their knowledge through hands-on activities. The practical session covers CPR, use of first aid equipment, and treatment of injuries such as bleeding, burns, fractures, and soft tissue damage, as well as the management of conditions like cardiac arrest, anaphylaxis, and asthma. This format provides a flexible yet comprehensive pathway to developing real-world first aid skills.

ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

Assessment for this blended course includes both online theory and face-to-face practical components to ensure participants are fully equipped to provide first aid. The theory assessment is completed online and evaluates participants’ understanding of first aid principles, legal responsibilities, and appropriate responses to a variety of medical conditions and emergencies.

Upon successful completion of the online component, participants attend a face-to-face practical assessment where they must demonstrate CPR on both an adult and an infant, manage a range of conditions including bleeding, burns, fractures, anaphylaxis, asthma, and shock, and respond to an unknown incident scenario. This involves assessing the scene, providing appropriate first aid treatment, and communicating effectively with emergency services. All assessments align with nationally recognised training requirements.
