ABOUT THIS COURSE

This Occupational First Aid course provides participants with the advanced skills and knowledge required to respond to medical emergencies in the workplace, particularly in environments where professional medical assistance may be delayed or where managing first aid services and resources is part of the role.

Building on basic first aid principles, the course focuses on managing patient care during complex incidents until emergency services arrive. Topics include advanced resuscitation techniques, oxygen therapy, and airway management, as well as the use of spinal collars, spine boards, and AEDs. Participants will also learn to assess and manage a range of injuries and conditions, including eye, head, and abdominal trauma, occupational illnesses, and psychological emergencies.

The course also covers remote area first aid, vital sign monitoring, the administration of workplace-appropriate medications, and managing incidents in high-risk settings such as confined spaces. Participants will develop the skills to record and communicate patient information effectively while supporting a safe and compliant workplace.
