FACE TO FACE DELIVERY OVERVIEW

This Advanced Resuscitation course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively respond to medical emergencies requiring advanced resuscitation techniques, guided by experienced trainers. 

The course covers critical topics, including assessing emergency situations, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and ensuring oxygen safety. Participants will learn how to administer oxygen therapy, operate oxygen-powered and manual resuscitation devices (BVMs), and use oropharyngeal (OP) airways and suction equipment. 

Participants will also receive instruction in the safe and effective use of automatic and semi-automatic external defibrillators, coordination of casualty handover to medical professionals, and providing support for first responders following a critical incident.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Pinnacle Safety and Training (RTO 40496).

National units of competency

  • HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy
  • HLTAID016 Manage first aid services and resources

ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

The assessment for this Advanced Resuscitation course includes both theory and practical components. Participants will complete a written assessment to demonstrate their understanding of resuscitation principles and oxygen therapy procedures. Practical assessment involves demonstrating skills such as performing CPR, administering oxygen therapy, using resuscitation devices, and operating defibrillators in simulated emergency scenarios.

COURSE SELECTION

This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform advanced resuscitation techniques and safely use oxygen therapy equipment in emergency situations.

PREREQUISITES & ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Prerequisites:

Participants must hold HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, obtained within the last three years.

Age requirements

Participants must be at least 15 years of age. Participants under the age of 18 must have consent from a parent or legal guardian to enrol and participate in this course. Consent will be obtained during the enrolment process, and a signed consent form must be submitted prior to the start of training. Refer to FAQ for more information.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills (LLN)

Participants must have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills and be able to read and write in English.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) & CREDIT TRANSFERS

Recognition of Prior Learning

Pinnacle Safety and Training does not offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for this course. Due to the duration and cost of this short course, RPL assessment would have limited value to participants.

Credit Transfer

Pinnacle Safety and Training offers Credit Transfers for this training product. A Credit Transfer is granted where the previously attained unit of competency has been achieved. After enrolment, participants are eligible to submit a Credit Transfer application.

It is important to note that while the unit/s of competency are eligible for Credit Transfer, you may be required to resit the training and assessment to meet industry or legislative requirements.

COURSE WORKLOAD

All training and assessment requirements are completed within the course duration. Participants are not required to undertake any additional study or assessment outside of the scheduled course time.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Consistent with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recommendations, Advanced Resuscitation skills should be refreshed every 12 months to maintain competency and ensure participants remain current with best practice resuscitation techniques.
