Risk Facilitator (G2)

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Pinnacle Safety and Training (RTO 40496).

Assessment for this course includes both theoretical and practical components to ensure participants are competent in all aspects of risk facilitation.

A theory quiz verifies understanding of key concepts such as effectively facilitating risk management processes in coal and metalliferous mining environments, including advanced techniques in hazard identification, risk assessment, control implementation, and communication, aligned with legislative and site-specific requirements.

Participants will complete practical assessments by submitting video evidence of tasks performed in a simulated workplace setting. This requires access to video equipment, such as a webcam or smartphone, and the assistance of three volunteers. The volunteers must be 15 years of age or older and consent to being filmed.

Our online self-paced delivery mode supports independent learning while ensuring participants are equipped to lead structured risk management processes in the workplace.

Participants completing the online course will complete practical assessments by submitting video evidence of tasks performed in a simulated workplace setting. This requires access to video equipment, such as a webcam or smartphone, and the assistance of three volunteers. The volunteers must be 15 years of age or older and consent to being filmed.

For those who do not have access to three volunteers or who prefer guided learning, consider our trainer-led options—either at our venues face-to-face or virtually, allowing you to log on from anywhere at pre-determined class times.

Age requirements

Participants must be at least 18 years of age. Due to course restrictions, enrolments will not be accepted from individuals under 18 years of age, even with parental or guardian consent. Refer to our FAQ for more information.

Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills (LLND)

Participants are required to have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills and be able to read and write in English. This course requires a moderate level of computer literacy to navigate the online learning system and complete required activities.

To complete this course, participants require:

• A laptop computer
• Internet browser (Chrome recommended)
• Wi-Fi capability
• Headphones
• PDF reader
• Office Suite applications (Microsoft Office recommended)
• Optional items to assist with workflow and ergonomics:
• Additional monitor/screen
• Wireless mouse and keyboard

Smartphones and tablets are not supported due to compatibility issues with some applications. Refer to our FAQ for more information.

Participants will need three volunteers to assist with the practical assessment (the volunteers must be 15 years of age or older and consent to being filmed for assessment purposes).

Recognition of Prior Learning 

Pinnacle Safety and Training does not offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for this course. Due to the duration and cost of this short course, RPL assessment would have limited value to participants. 

Credit Transfer 

Pinnacle Safety and Training offers Credit Transfers for this training product. A Credit Transfer is granted where the previously attained unit of competency has been achieved. After enrolment, participants are eligible to submit a Credit Transfer application. 

It is important to note that while the unit of competency is eligible for Credit Transfer, the participant will receive a Statement of Attainment without the specific “Risk Facilitator” course name listed. This is due to the course being delivered in a contextualised format with specific methodologies, and course completion through attendance is required to achieve the intended learning outcomes.

This course is delivered online and is entirely self-paced, allowing you to complete the content in your own time and at your convenience, within the 3-month enrolment period. Participants must ensure sufficient time in a quiet, focused study environment to absorb the content and complete the assessment tasks.
