Advanced First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Pinnacle Safety and Training (RTO 40496).

National units of competency

• HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid
• HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
• HLTAID016 Manage first aid services and resources
   

Assessment for this course involves both theoretical and practical components to ensure participants can confidently apply advanced first aid skills in real-world scenarios. Participants will be required to apply advanced resuscitation techniques, including administering oxygen therapy, using resuscitation devices such as bag-valve-masks and suction equipment, and safely operating defibrillators. They will be required to manage life-threatening bleeding by correctly applying a tourniquet and using haemostatic dressings to control bleeding effectively.

In addition, participants will respond to simulated multi-casualty emergency situations, applying triage procedures, coordinating first aid efforts, and managing the use of first aid resources in line with workplace procedures. They will also complete documentation and effectively communicate with emergency services, demonstrating their ability to manage complex incidents from initial response through to post-incident reporting.

This course is designed for individuals who are responsible for managing first aid services and responding to complex emergency situations in the workplace.

Prerequisites

Participants must hold HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, obtained within the last three years.

Age requirements

Participants must be at least 15 years of age. Participants under the age of 18 must have consent from a parent or legal guardian to enrol and participate in this course. Consent will be obtained during the enrolment process, and a signed consent form must be submitted prior to the start of training. Refer to our FAQ for more information.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills (LLN)

Participants must have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills and be able to read and write in English.
 

Pinnacle Safety and Training supplies all required learning materials and safety equipment for this course.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Pinnacle Safety and Training does not offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for this course. Due to the duration and cost of this short course, RPL assessment would have limited value to participants.

Credit Transfer

Pinnacle Safety and Training offers Credit Transfers for this training product.  A Credit Transfer is granted where the previously attained unit of competency has been achieved. After enrolment, participants are eligible to submit a Credit Transfer application.

It is important to note that while the unit/s of competency are eligible for Credit Transfer, you may be required to resit the training and assessment to meet industry or legislative requirements.

All training and assessment requirements are completed within the course duration. Participants are not required to undertake any additional study or assessment outside of the scheduled course time.

Consistent with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recommendations, Advanced Resuscitation skills should be refreshed every 12 months to maintain competency and ensure participants remain current with best practice resuscitation techniques.
