FACE TO FACE DELIVERY OVERVIEW - QLD

Our White Card course, officially known as General Construction Induction Training, is delivered face-to-face at our training facility in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

This course is a mandatory requirement for anyone seeking to enter the construction industry in Australia. It equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to work safely on construction sites, reduce the risk of injury or illness, and comply with national workplace health and safety standards.

During the course, participants will gain an understanding of key WHS legislation, learn how to identify common construction hazards, implement basic risk management strategies, and recognise the importance of clear communication, worker rights and responsibilities, and consistent adherence to safe work practices on site.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Pinnacle Safety and Training (RTO 40496). 

National units of competency

  • CPCWHS1001 - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

Pinnacle Safety and Training is an approved Work Health and Safety Queensland (WSHQ) provider of the White Card. Students will also receive a ‘White Card’ licence (QLD issued), which is nationally recognised throughout all states in Australia.

ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

Assessment for this course follows the standard Work Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) requirements, including both theory and practical components.

Participants will complete a theory assessment covering topics such as legislation, types of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.

Additional verbal questioning will assess understanding of basic risk assessment principles, workplace signage, correct use of fire equipment, responsibilities of key personnel on a construction site and the use of workplace documentation.

The practical assessment takes place in a simulated training environment and participants will be required to complete a simple workplace form and demonstrate the correct fitting of PPE.

COURSE SELECTION

Organisations and businesses may have internal policies that require White Cards to be obtained through specific training organisations or by specific methods of training delivery. If in doubt, ask your prospective employer.

PREREQUISITES & ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Age requirements 

Participants must be at least 15 years of age. Participants under the age of 18 must have consent from a parent or legal guardian to enrol and participate in this course. Consent will be obtained during the enrolment process, and a signed consent form must be submitted prior to the start of training. Refer to our FAQ for more information.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills (LLN)

Participants are required to have at least a Year 8 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills and be able to read and write in English. 

Evidence of identity documents 

WorkSafe Queensland require that participants supply three (3) matching original evidence of identity (EOI) documents. Click here to view document categories and types. 

These documents must be supplied to the trainer on the day of training. Failure to supply the required documents will result in exclusion from the course, and rebooking fees will apply.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) & CREDIT TRANSFERS

Recognition of Prior Learning 

Pinnacle Safety and Training does not offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for this course. Due to the duration and cost of this short course, RPL assessment would have limited value to participants. 

Credit Transfer 

Pinnacle Safety and Training offers Credit Transfers for this training product. A Credit Transfer is granted where the previously attained unit of competency has been achieved. After enrolment, participants are eligible to submit a Credit Transfer application.

COURSE WORKLOAD

All training and assessment requirements are completed within the course duration. Participants are not required to undertake any additional study or assessment outside of the scheduled course time.
