Schedule 26 Statutory Supervisor Training

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Pinnacle Safety and Training (RTO 40496).

National units of competency

• BSBWHS414 Contribute to WHS risk management
• BSBWHS411 Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs
   

Assessment for this course includes both theoretical and practical components to ensure participants can apply their knowledge in real-world situations. Participants will complete a series of theory quizzes to assess their understanding of key concepts, including legislation, risk management principles, and WHS responsibilities.

Participants will undertake a range of scenario-based practical assessments. These tasks involve analysing health and safety issues in a simulated workplace, conducting risk assessments, selecting and applying appropriate control measures, and monitoring the effectiveness of those controls.

Participants will complete practical assessments by submitting video evidence of tasks performed in a simulated workplace setting. This requires access to video equipment, such as a webcam or smartphone, and the assistance of three volunteers. The volunteers must be 15 years of age or older and consent to being filmed.

Age requirements

Participants must be at least 18 years of age. Due to course restrictions, enrolments will not be accepted from individuals under 18 years of age, even with parental or guardian consent. Refer to our FAQ for more information.

Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills (LLND)

Participants are required to have at least a Year 12 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills and be able to read and write in English. This course requires a strong level of computer literacy to navigate the online learning system and complete required activities.

To complete this course, participants require:

• A desktop or laptop computer, with:
  • Internet browser (Chrome recommended)
  • Reliable internet connection
  • Ability to play sound
  • Video recording equipment, such as a smartphone or webcam
  • PDF reader 
  • Office Suite applications (Microsoft Office recommended) 
• Three volunteers to assist with your practical assessment (the volunteers must be 15 years of age or older and consent to being filmed for assessment purposes)

Smartphones and tablets are not supported due to compatibility issues with some applications. Refer to our FAQ for more information.
 

Recognition of Prior Learning

Pinnacle Safety and Training does not offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for this course. Due to the duration and cost of this short course, RPL assessment would have limited value to participants.

Credit Transfer

Pinnacle Safety and Training offers Credit Transfers for this training product.  A Credit Transfer is granted where the previously attained unit of competency has been achieved. After enrolment, participants are eligible to submit a Credit Transfer application.

It is important to note that while the unit of competency is eligible for Credit Transfer, the participant will receive a Statement of Attainment without the specific  “Statutory Supervisor” course name listed. This is due to the course being delivered in a contextualised format with specific methodologies, and course completion through attendance is required to achieve the intended learning outcomes.

What are statutory positions?

Part 10.7A of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 prescribes positions in relation to mines. These statutory positions are appointed by the mine operator to carry out specific functions in relation to the operations of a mine.

Statutory positions are classified into several categories, with different functions and obligations, and levels of knowledge, experience and formal qualifications for the appointed persons, with some positions requiring statutory certificates.

This course is designed to meet the WHS risk management training requirements for the following statutory positions:

• Underground supervisor (non-coal)
• Underground supervisor (coal)
• Restricted quarry manager
• Statutory supervisor
• Mine air quality officer
• Noise officer
• Electrical supervisor
