Health and Safety Representative (HSR) Training

Participants will receive a WorkSafe Queensland Health and Safety Representative Training Statement of Attendance. This statement is issued by Pinnacle Safety and Training (RTO 40496).

Although there is no formal assessment allocated to this course, participants are expected to actively participate in activities and attend each day for the duration of the course.

This course is offered in an intensive and extended delivery format. When choosing the format that’s right for you, it’s essential to consider your learning style, work commitments, and availability. 

The intensive option is ideal for those who prefer to immerse themselves and complete training quickly, while the weekly format suits participants who need time between sessions to absorb content or balance other responsibilities. Consider which approach best supports your ability to stay focused, retain information, and manage your workload.

Age requirements 

Participants must be at least 18 years of age. Due to course restrictions, enrolments will not be accepted from individuals under 18 years of age, even with parental or guardian consent. Refer to our FAQ for more information.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills (LLN) 

Participants are required to have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills and be able to read and write in English.

Evidence of Identification

Participants must provide three (3) evidence of identity (EOI) documents on the morning of day 1 of training. Click here to view the types of documents you can provide.

Pinnacle Safety and Training supplies all required learning materials and safety equipment for this course.

All training and assessment requirements are completed within the course duration. Participants are not required to undertake any additional study or assessment outside of the scheduled course time.

To receive a certificate of attendance, participants must attend all five days.

The role of the Health and Safety Representative (HSR) is primarily to liaise with other staff to identify health and safety issues and convey these to management. HSRs are elected by fellow staff to represent the views of the staff group. 

HSRs in Queensland are entitled to attend this WorkSafe Queensland-approved five-day training course within 28 days of being elected as the HSR. Employers are required to allow the HSR to take paid time off work to attend this training and pay for training costs. Likewise, HSRs are also entitled to attend one day refresher courses at least every year after the initial five day course has been completed (as per the Work Health and Safety legislation).
