Hazardous Area Awareness

This is a non-accredited training course. Students who complete this course will receive a Certificate of Completion. This certificate is issued by Pinnacle Safety and Training (RTO 40496).

Assessment is conducted through short quizzes designed to reinforce learning and test understanding. Participants must successfully complete each quiz to demonstrate their knowledge and receive their certificate of completion.

This non-accredited Hazardous Area Awareness course is designed for individuals who may come across hazardous areas during their work.

Our Hazardous Area Awareness course is recommended for those in trades and construction-related roles such as electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, carpenters, painters, insulation installers, and maintenance workers as well as emergency services personnel and others working in environments where there is the potential for explosive atmospheres.

Age requirements 

Participants must be at least 15 years of age. Participants under the age of 18 must have consent from a parent or legal guardian to enrol and participate in this course. Consent will be obtained during the enrolment process, and a signed consent form must be submitted prior to the start of training. Refer to our FAQ for more information.

Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills (LLND) 

Participants are required to have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills and be able to read and write in English. This course requires a basic level of computer literacy to navigate the online learning system and complete course activities.

To complete this course, participants require:

• A desktop or laptop computer, with: 
  • Internet browser(chrome recommended)
  • Reliable internet connection
  • Ability to play sound
  • PDF reader

This course is delivered online and is entirely self-paced, allowing you to complete the content in your own time and at your convenience, within the 3-month enrolment period. Participants need to ensure that they allow sufficient time in a quiet, focused study environment to fully absorb the content and complete the assessment tasks.
 

A hazardous area is any location where flammable gases, vapours, dust, or fibres are present in quantities that could ignite and cause a fire or explosion. These environments require strict safety controls and specialised equipment to minimise risk and protect workers. You’ll commonly find hazardous areas in industries such as mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, and chemical processing. Correct identification, classification, and control of these zones is critical to ensuring a safe workplace

This course is designed for workers, supervisors, and contractors who operate in or around environments where hazardous materials may be present. If you’re working in industries like mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, or chemical processing, this training helps you understand your responsibilities, assess risks, and follow safety protocols when working in or near hazardous areas.
