Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122)

Upon successful completion, graduates receive a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122), issued by Pinnacle Safety and Training (RTO 40496), recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

The course comprises 12 units: six core and six electives, carefully selected in conjunction with industry consultation to align with the needs and expectations of training professionals across Australia.

The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment involves various assessment types designed to evaluate learners’ understanding and practical application of the course content. These assessments ensure that learners are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform effectively as trainers and assessors in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

All assessments are completed via our online learning platform, offering a flexible and streamlined experience. Learners will complete written tasks, develop learning plans, deliver face-to-face and online training, conduct assessments, and participate in validation activities—all managed and submitted through the platform.

During the delivery days of the course, learners are required to submit tasks regularly to reinforce learning and track progress. These structured submissions align with each unit covered and ensure that learners remain engaged, apply new skills in real time, and build toward their final assessments. 

In addition to the delivery days, students must complete a virtually delivered Validation Assessment Workshop that will run for 8 hours on a single day. 

Once all of the tasks and activities allocated during the delivery days have been completed, participants will be able to schedule the Validation Assessment Workshop day.

After the successful completion of the Validation Assessment Workshop, learners will be able to continue working on their final assessment tasks. These can be submitted independently using suitable volunteers for assessment activities.

Post-Delivery Assessment Requirements

• Facilitating two individual 30-minute training sessions required two volunteers and video-recorded evidence. 
• Facilitating group training for a group of at least four learners (3 x 30-minute sessions, in-person) and conducting an assessment briefing requires four volunteers (for each session) and video-recorded evidence. Learners may elect to attend our Face-to-Face Workshop to complete this assessment.
• Facilitating online training and assessment in a virtual environment for a group of at least three learners (3 x 30-minute sessions) requires three volunteers (for each session) and video-recorded evidence. Learners may elect to attend our Virtua Workshop to complete this assessment

Extended Delivery (4 Hours Per Week over 12 weeks)

This flexible delivery option spreads learning over several months, allowing participants to balance study with work, family, and other commitments. Weekly 4-hour virtual classes provide a structured learning environment while giving participants additional time to absorb course content and complete assessments.

Participants are expected to undertake independent study between sessions, including reviewing learning materials, completing assessment tasks, and engaging with online resources. This format is ideal for learners who prefer a slower-paced approach and require greater flexibility while working towards their qualification

Age requirements 

Participants must be at least 18 years of age.

Language, Literacy, and Numeracy skills (LLN)

Participants must have a level of literacy and numeracy sufficient to read, interpret, and write workplace documents and reports, as well as perform basic mathematical tasks. Prior to entry into the course, participants must complete an LLN assessment to ensure they meet the necessary skills for successful completion of the qualification.

Digital literacy

Participants must have a reasonably high level of digital literacy to effectively engage with the online components of the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. This includes navigating online learning platforms, using email, accessing digital resources, and completing assessments using digital tools. 

Vocational Competence

You must be able to demonstrate vocational competence in your proposed training and assessing area. Vocational competence is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification in your respective field.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Pinnacle Safety and Training does not offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for this course. This decision has been made to ensure the integrity and validity of the training product.

Credit Transfer

Pinnacle Safety and Training offers Credit Transfers for this training product. Learners who have previously completed relevant nationally recognised training may be eligible for credit transfers into the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. A Credit Transfer is granted where the previously attained unit of competency has been achieved. After enrolment, participants are eligible to submit a Credit Transfer application.

At Pinnacle Safety and Training, units in the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment are delivered in clustered modules to enhance practical learning and assessment integration. If a learner is granted a credit transfer for all units within a module, they will not be required to complete the training or assessment for that module. However, if only some units within a module are credited, the learner must complete the entire module, including all related assessments, to ensure the full learning outcomes and practical requirements are met within Pinnacle’s structured delivery model.

The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is a comprehensive qualification requiring significant time and effort. The course provides a 12-month enrolment period but can be completed sooner depending on your existing skills, experience, and chosen delivery mode (eg. intensive vs extended  This includes a combination of guided learning, self-paced study, practical assessments, and workplace-based tasks.

In addition to attending scheduled classes, participants are expected to complete independent study and assessment tasks outside of class time. This includes reading course materials, preparing for assessments, and completing activities assigned between sessions. It is essential that all required tasks are completed prior to the next scheduled class day to ensure full participation, stay on track with the course schedule, and maximise learning outcomes. This additional study time is a key component of the overall course workload and success in the program.
