Mining Induction Refresher

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Pinnacle Safety and Training (RTO 40496).

• RIIGOV201E Comply with site work processes/procedures

• RIICOM201E Communicate in the workplace
• RIIERR302E Respond to local emergencies and incidents

Assessment for this course includes both theoretical and practical components to ensure participants can confidently apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. Participants will complete a theory assessment to demonstrate their knowledge of recent legislative updates, key safety responsibilities, Safe work practices and incident response procedures. Practical activities will focus on reviewing and applying incident response protocols to ensure participants can respond and communicate effectively in emergency situations.

Age requirements

Participants must be at least 16 years of age.Participants under the age of 18 must have consent from a parent or legal guardian to enrol and participate in this course. Consent will be obtained during the enrolment process, and a signed consent form must be submitted prior to the start of training. Refer to our FAQ for more information.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills (LLN)

Participants are required to have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills and be able to read and write in English.

Photo ID card requirements

To receive a Mining Induction photo ID card, the participant must provide a photograph of themselves prior to the course commencing.

To ensure the photo meets the necessary requirements, use the following guidelines:

• Take a passport-like photo showing head and shoulders
• Stand against a plain white background
• Ensure hat and sunglasses are removed
• Look directly at the camera

Recognition of Prior Learning

Pinnacle Safety and Training does not offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for this course. Due to the duration and cost of this short course, RPL assessment would have limited value to participants.

Credit Transfer

Pinnacle Safety and Training offers Credit Transfers for this training product. A Credit Transfer is granted where the previously attained unit of competency has been achieved. After enrolment, participants are eligible to submit a Credit Transfer application.

It is important to note that while the unit of competency is eligible for Credit Transfer, the participant will receive a Statement of Attainment without the specific “Mining Induction” course name listed. This is due to the course being delivered in a contextualised format with specific methodologies, and course completion through attendance is required to achieve the intended learning outcomes.

Course Validity and Refreshers

The refresher period for the Mining Induction course is five years. This means individuals can refresh their induction at the discretion of mining companies, within a five year period.
