ONLINE DELIVERY OVERVIEW

This online Issue Work Permits course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to review, issue, and manage a variety of work permits in high-risk environments. Delivered through an interactive learning management system, the course covers the purpose of work permits, roles and responsibilities, hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures.

Participants will explore the requirements for issuing permits such as hot works, isolation, excavation, work at height, and general work. The course includes interactive modules, knowledge checks, and scenario-based activities to reinforce learning. Participants will also gain an understanding of validating permit applications, communicating permit conditions, monitoring compliance, and completing reporting and record-keeping requirements—all accessible anytime, from any location.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Pinnacle Safety and Training (RTO 40496).

ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

Assessment for this course includes both theory and practical components. All assessment tasks and trainer feedback is submitted through our online learning management system. 

The theory component focuses on legislative requirements and the key principles of permit-to-work systems. 

The practical assessment is completed through interactive, scenario-based activities. Participants will review sample permit applications, assess compliance with permit conditions, and demonstrate their understanding of the correct procedures for finalising and closing permits.

COURSE SELECTION

Important Information for Confined Space Permit Issuers

While the Issue Work Permits course covers some fundamentals of confined space entry permit issuing, we strongly recommend students who need to issue confined space permits undertake our face-to-face Confined Space Permit Issuer course.

PREREQUISITES & ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Age requirements 

Participants must be at least 15 years of age. Participants under the age of 18 must have consent from a parent or legal guardian to enrol and participate in this course. Consent will be obtained during the enrolment process, and a signed consent form must be submitted prior to the start of training. Refer to our FAQ for more information.

Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills (LLND)

Participants are required to have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills and be able to read and write in English. This course requires a basic level of computer literacy to navigate the online learning system and complete required activities.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) & CREDIT TRANSFERS

Recognition of Prior Learning 

Pinnacle Safety and Training does not offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for this course. Due to the duration and cost of this short course, RPL assessment would have limited value to participants.

Credit Transfer

Pinnacle Safety and Training offers Credit Transfers for this training product. A Credit Transfer is granted where the previously attained unit of competency has been achieved. After enrolment, participants are eligible to submit a Credit Transfer application.

COURSE WORKLOAD

This course is delivered online and is entirely self-paced, allowing you to complete the content in your own time and at your convenience, within the 3-month enrolment period. Participants need to ensure that they allow sufficient time in a quiet, focused study environment to fully absorb the content and complete the assessment tasks.
