Electrical Safety

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Pinnacle Safety and Training (RTO 40496).

National units of competency

• UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker

Assessment for this Electrical Safety course includes both theory and practical components designed to confirm participants can safely work near live electrical apparatus. All assessments and trainer feedback are completed through our online learning management system, providing a flexible and convenient learning experience.

Participants will complete online theory quizzes covering key electrical safety concepts, hazard identification, risk management, safe work practices, and emergency procedures. Practical assessment tasks require participants to demonstrate safe working practices in simulated workplace scenarios near live electrical equipment by submitting video evidence for assessment.

To complete one practical assessment task, participants must have access to one volunteer aged 15 years or older who consents to being video recorded for assessment purposes.

Age requirements
Participants must be at least 15 years of age. Participants under the age of 18 must have consent from a parent or legal guardian to enrol and participate in this course. Consent will be obtained during the enrolment process, and a signed consent form must be submitted prior to the start of training. Refer to our FAQ for more information.

Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills (LLND)
Participants are required to have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills and be able to read and write in English. This course requires a moderate level of computer literacy to navigate the online learning system and complete required activities.

To complete this course, participants require:

• A desktop or laptop computer, with:
  • Internet browser (Chrome recommended)
  • Reliable internet connection
  • Speakers or headphones
  • Video recording equipment, such as a smartphone or webcam
  • PDF reader
  • Office Suite applications (Microsoft Office recommended)

Smartphones and tablets are not supported due to compatibility issues with some applications. Refer to our FAQ for more information.

Role-play volunteers
To complete one of the practical assessment tasks, participants will need access to one (1) volunteer. The volunteer must be at least 15 years of age and consent to being video recorded for the purposes of assessment.

Additional Equipment
Participants will be required to use personal protective equipment during their assessment.
To create the required simulated environment, participants will need to utilise objects to simulate an overhead powerline and objects that can be used to mark out a safe approach distance to complete the practical assessment.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Pinnacle Safety and Training does not offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for this course. Due to the duration and cost of this short course, RPL assessment would have limited value to participants.

Credit Transfer
Pinnacle Safety and Training offers Credit Transfers for this training product. A Credit Transfer is granted where the previously attained unit of competency has been achieved. After enrolment, participants are eligible to submit a Credit Transfer application.

This course is delivered online and is entirely self-paced, allowing you to complete the content in your own time and at your convenience, within the 3-month enrolment period. Participants need to ensure that they allow sufficient time in a quiet, focused study environment to fully absorb the content and complete the assessment tasks.
