Difficult access work deep within the Rio Tinto Tower in Brisbane

In December 2010, Pinnacle Rope Access was engaged by Laing O’Rourke for some difficult access work on the Rio Tinto Tower in Brisbane.

Within this high-rise office, an issue had been identified that necessitated the removal of steel grid-mesh used in construction, located in 30-storey-high pressurization shafts.

We provided a three-man rope access team to safely access the areas, using various rope access methodologies to ascend and descend to the work areas. This also included the installation of anchor points.

Working under a tight deadline, we used battery-powered power tools to cut and remove all grid-mesh over a five-day period.
